Pitch Renovations almost complete!
1st September 2020
Our annual pitch renovation programme is almost complete ahead of the opening game of the 2020/21 season on Saturday.
Thanks to the Football Foundation grant that the club were awarded earlier this year, the playing surface has benefited from substantial renovation works during the summer and as you can see from the photo above, the results are clear to see.
The programme of work designed on a bespoke basis on behalf of the club by the Insitute of Groundsmanship consists of annual scarification, verti-draining, overseeding, fertilisation and herbicide application. This is then followed up with a dressing of 100 tonnes of sports sand to even out the surface and regain levels. This is complimented by weekly cuts.
Local contractor Bedford are delivering the programme and have got the surface into a fantastic condition ready for the opening games.
Club Secretary Rob Smith commented:
"Once again the results of the work are clear to see and I am really happy with the condition that the pitches are in going into the opening weekend.
For me it's a massive part of what we do and its exciting to see the huge progress that the playing surface is making after just 18 months of maintenance. It is vital that we offer our players the very best facilities and playing experience that we can and for me that starts with the surface that they play on."
The opening game of the 2020/21 season sees our First Team host Littletown Reserves in the Yorkshire Amateur League on Saturday 5th September, 2pm kick off.
